So Todd and I have balcony seats for Ryan Adams on the 24th of October. It was funny. I only heard about the concert yesterday (Todd had set his phone alarm way back in May to remind himself, but he forgot about it/his phone exploded/his alarm was shunted by one that reminded him to watch Mythbusters) because a co-worker of mine, who's also a fan, practically attacked me when I walked in the front door in the morning. He'd heard about it the day before -- the Tuesday I was sick -- and wanted to know if I was down.

Verily, I was.

Presale started at ten o'clock this morning and my co-worker and I kept refreshing our browsers every five seconds until the online buying console went live. We used a super secret government password (provided by a super secret government source) that we had to screw around with case sensitivity to get to work. FINALLY, after what seemed like a Clancy-esque series of failed attempts, we scored four tickets. I don't know if we're necessarily carpooling down there together (Co-Worker has a fiancee he's taking) but it might be worth it if we can score overnight accommodations (Co-Worker's fiancee has the domestic hook-up) because the concert'll let out late and yeah, getting home at three in the morning only to wake up at 6:30 for work. Voted Most Likely To Thhbbbt.

'Got the new Dave Matthews when I was at Starbucks today. Live albums just have a certain somethin'-somethin' to them, don't you think?

Still thinking about graduate school. Still thinking about getting up early on Tuesday to get the House DVDs before work. Still thinking about picnics, pre-emptive strikes against puffery, fornication, flight school, new nail polish, Darwinism, nihilism, botulism, television, extridation, sleeve biting, up-all-nighting.

And, of course, two pieces of warm toast with a little peanut butter.

Ryan Adams...sweet!!!

They are much better live than on their regular albums. They take the songs places live that are just amazing.

Dave and Tim that is a different level of heaven

I admit it: I bought it for "Some Devil". I bought the Live Trax disc for my boyfriend -- totally went to Stabucks on a goodwill mission to get it, too -- but I saw the "Live At Radio City" CD sitting with it on the kiosk and decided to get it for myself.

"When The World Ends" is almost happy-sounding.

we lost it.

sadly no.

and I am bummed they cut Dave's story about Hugh. Grr.

He had a Hugh story? About filming "Half Wit"?

Let the story live on, friend. Tell me. I'll pay it forward.

It''s right after he does Out of My Hands (when Dave plays piano)

He talked about how wonderful Hugh was and that when they were filming the scene with House doing the test on Patrick with the bad words, Dave's stomach was growling. And he said that Hugh was such a professional that he timed his lines between the growls.

So they are doing this scene together and then all of a sudden they hear this loud snore. One of the camera guys fell asleep on the microphone and they jumped.

Dave: Well it wasn't my stomach.

It's terrible that my love for Dave Matthews was reawakened by that episode, isn't it? Bless them both. That makes me happy. Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome.

That ep just makes me smile.

Hearing someone play the piano. It's just...it's one of those things that can make me stop where I'm standing and want to lie down, gentle as a learning lamb, so I can listen. I completely lose my senses. That episode? Was like that for me.

If I was ever on Actor's Studio and they asked me what my favorite sound was...it would be a piano playing

What'd your favourite curse word be?

I think it's the most versatile of all the blue words: noun, verb, adjective, modifier. Fuck crosses all racial and religious boundries; it unites people under the umbrella cause of "really good cursing".

Is that Indianapolis or Columbus? Because if it is the latter (and not the former) I shall see you there. :)

Indianapolis, unfortunately. When's he playing in Columbus? That Friday?

Which songs are you hoping in your heart he'll play?

Date: 2007-08-17 03:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] luthienofold.livejournal.com
We almost went for Indy - but as it turned out, I was really not to thrilled with the tickets that Ticketwhoremaster kept providing. So I tried Columbus and got something a bit better ... at least I hope!

In my heart? Oh god, I'm easy. I'd like to hear "Let it Ride" and "In My Time of Need". The latter will probably never happen, though I bet I'll get to hear the former.

What about you? :)

From: [identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com
If he plays "Desire", I'll be very happy. I'd also like to hear "Tina Toledo's Street Walkin' Blues" -- and essentially anything off Gold. How far are you from Columbus?

Date: 2007-08-17 01:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] luthienofold.livejournal.com
All of these: songs par excellence. Now that you mention it, I might just have an orgasm in the seat if he plays "Goodnight Hollywood Boulevard".

I'm about two hours south of Columbus, in Cincinnati. Likewise, I'm about two hours east of Indy.

I love you. XD

Very glad the super secret government source came through. She's pretty cool, don't you think? Not that she's a she, of course - and I don't know the super secret government secret. I mean, if I did? I wouldn't be able to admit it anyway.

New Dave Matthews? I didn't know about this. I'm glad you like it! I'm still in love with Ryan Adams' "Gold" album. I play it on Partypants during my rides to work.

<3 I'm a little bit on the tired side, but I wanted to leave you love.

It's Todd's sister's 21st birthday, so we're taking her out for rounds. I'm not sure what I'm going to have to drink. Maybe Blue Moon. Guinness is definitely an option.

Guinness is love. Love, I say. And it's so sweet of you, taking her out like that. Of course, someone has to make sure she gets home in one piece. Ah, 21st birthdays.

Mmm..Blue Moon. Now I'm tempted.

Oh, I'm just sampling tonight. It's important for every young woman to get the most out of her 21st birthday, you know. In fact, I've had three twenty-first birthday celebrations, just so I could get the most-of-the-most.

I never really had one, come to think of it. The cosmo following a day of working in the coal mine we call retail was well deserved, but I never had the full treatment. I definitely agree it's important for her to be out and about, experiencing as much as she can. Got to do it while you're young - and it's even more fun when it's legal to do so.

Three? Do tell!

Oh, and what albums do you have as far as John Williams recordings go?

Date: 2007-08-17 07:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com
Well, maybe one felt like three. But I sure as punch did a hell of a lot of celebrating.

John Williams? God. Let me think. I'll have to scroll through my iPod to be sure:

Okay. I have:

Greatest Hits 1969-1999 (2 discs)
Jaws
Jurassic Park
The Lost World
The Witches Of Eastwick

Wow. That's all I have. Huh. That's all I have.

SNICK!

As well you should have, dear. As effing well you should have. What did you do? I mean, of course you went to the bars, but can I be nosy and ask for specifics?

And, how would you like a whole lotta John Williams? We're talking a looooooooot. Would Little Lisa be happy?
