I FOUND AN APARTMENT!
And I managed to take care of renter's insurance, water and electric accounts all in one afternoon. I'm ready to move in on Saturday. 'Still not sure if I want to shell out money for cable, as I really don't watch a lot of TV through conventional devices, anyway. (I'm talking laptops here -- I don't try to watch TV through my microwave or anything.) I might be able to hold off on getting the Internet right away, as my cell phone doubles as a wireless hotspot and I've been able to use it at work to access what I need. (Not that you really care how I plan to pay bills.) Todd and my parents are coming down on Saturday to move some of the big stuff in. I forgot my glasses, too, so Todd will bring those. I'm excited to see everybody and to share my good fortune.
Settling into the job quite quickly. Our first day of classes is tomorrow. I will be paired up with a "mentor teacher" for Thursday and Friday, then get control of a whole class starting next Tuesday. I can already tell that I am really, really going to like this job. It's challenging, wholly based on principles of communication and learning, and gives me an opportunity to work with many different people from many different cultures and backgrounds. I am very grateful for what I have and what I am doing.
