Tell Her We Have an Automobile wrapped tonight. I'm happy and sad at the same time -- happy, because all of that hard work (and stolen afternoons) is over; sad, because you always get sad after you put such effort into something that ends so quickly. Now it's back to academia.

I read it when you posted it and I meant to comment on it! I find Moist to be a fascinating character -- a real cipher -- and, even though I've never read anything out of the Discworld universe, based on your interpretation of Moist alone, I know I'd love it.

I was so happy that you'd taken up the gauntlet of that prompt. It was awesome!

Discworld is so much fun and I think you'd enjoy it. Its a very meta world that pokes fun at itself.

Oh yes, I loved the prompt because its something I've been thinking about since I decided to play him.

What would be the best way for someone new -- someone like me, for instance -- to get started? Are there things I should read before others? Certain things I should be aware of?

He's a mystery. Castle was frustrated that he couldn't completely figure him out; couldn't even get past the top layer, I imagine.

There are lots of good places to start reading the Disc books. I think Guards, Guards is the best place for getting a sense of Ankh-Morpork. Going Postal which is Moist's book makes more sense after reading some of the Guards' books, because you can see the politics.

Other good places to start are with Wyrd Sisters for the Witches or Colour of Magic for the first book in them all.

Small Gods and Pyramids stand alone slightly so they can be read in any order. There are just a lot of books, honestly just plunge in.

'd love to have Moist and Castle thread again since Moist has now met Rook so he'll make that connection. Hee, yes, some people in Bar have gotten to the second layer of Moist but he hides a lot.

Moist was amused by Rook, because he was so obvious in his pursuit of Nikki Heat. They ended up agreeing that a life without risks is quite boring.

Also he just had fun with the fact that this journalist who seeks the truth didn't seem to suspect anything about Moist.

Rory really grew on me this series. Oh, hell. What am I saying? I actually liked Rory from the start. He wasn't like the other male companions in the series; they were all sort of perfunctory. Rory had heart -- and his whole story arc just killed me.

Gah. I need Arthur icons.
