It was an emotional sort of finale. And now that I'm a little more awake and coherent (naps on Sunday afternoons are marvelous, don't you think?) I can tell you, when I saw it yesterday I was left with an odd feeling. I'm not quite sure what it was, but I definitely wasn't happy or content.
I didn't get all emotional about it. I was just disappointed in general that it all led up to, well, "just that." :(
I would post the myriad reasons, though I think you said it best: In spite of all that, I'm left feeling hollow and bitter. (Though I'm not feeling bitter I know what you mean, I think.)
