It's not as bad as all that, really.

"God's choices in inflicting suffering are not satisfactory to us, nor are they understandable, unless innocence offends Him. Clearly He needs some help in directing the blind fury with which He flogs the earth."
I contracted food poisoning from the meal served at the dealer meeting last week and, as a result, spent the better part of the weekend struggling to remember what benefits there were to sitting up and making conversation. Todd was wonderful: he brought me roses (a whole spray of them, now sitting wildly in a vase on my kitchen table) and bought me a copy of the first season of The Tudors to watch while I recovered. I was able to go to work today -- and I functioned -- which, I suppose, is the important thing. The office was shaken by more politics and I remain ever and ever more convinced that a post-graduate education is really the order of my quarter-lifetime. My father came home late tonight: he had been at the hospital with my grandfather all day. 'Pain in his right side spreading around for which neither an X-ray nor an MRI could pin down with a cause. They're keeping him for observation. My dad just went back into the office to catch up on the work that he missed today.
So yes: it's not as bad as all that. But, really, it shouldn't be this hard all the time.
