I think I over-extended my shoulder playing skeeball last night. I have an arcade-related injury which, after seeing it written out like that, makes it seem like the most exercise I get on a regular basis comes from rearranging my Magic: The Gathering cards. Hey! -- I hear you keystroking -- there's nothing wrong with arcade games or card collecting! You're entirely right. I kid, because I know I have reached a level of personal nerdiness that is so embarrassing, it requires its own protective plastic sleeve to keep it in mint condition.

So my minor injury kept me from accomplishing much today and, as a result, I have been terrifically lazy. I watched "Vertigo" (Wilson really does want to be House's Kim Novak -- that's all I could think about the entire time) because I thought I had never seen it before, but I remembered how it ended halfway through and so I napped through 'til the end. It kind of...just goes on, doesn't it? "The Apartment" was on after that and, Jesus, I remembered how difficult it was -- has been -- for me to stay interested in films that came out before 1985. (At this point, film purists on my FL will be stacking dry kindling beneath a stake and asking me to wear my most "fire-friendly" pair of pants.) Let me assure you: I like a lot of "classic" films. I just don't think that everything that came out before 1970 should be aggrandized by TCM and TCM's reel jockey, Robert Osborne.

Also. What possible insightful commentary does Rose McGowan have to contribute to the discussion of classic film? That's like asking me to go on CNN to discuss relations with China because I have a passing familiarity with eggrolls.

Vertigo is my favourite movie of all time evar, but I'm keeping my matches in my pocket. Why should we all like the same ones? And I agree that many "classic" films are a pile of compost. (Not Vertigo, though:)). In particular I really struggle with 1970s movies. The Conversation, for example, is supposed to be a masterpiece but I can never get through more than the first ten minutes.
