Todd bought me a gym membership -- well, he added me to his plan -- a couple of months ago and I've been going to the gym almost religiously, three or four times a week. I run a couple of miles, bike, then do about fifty to fifty-five minutes on the elliptical machine. I've never really been into fitness for fitness' sake, but I started running around the neighborhood earlier this year (a circuit of about 2.1 miles) and I really enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment I'd get when I was done. Owing to the weather (and the fact that the sidewalks in my neighborhood freeze over at the drop of a hat), the gym membership has really worked out well. Now, I'm relatively fit to begin with -- I get good metabolism from both sides of my family -- and I've never really needed to worry about my weight. When I started working out, I told myself that I was just going to do it for me; that I wouldn't have a set goal in my head as far as total weight loss, or inches dropped. I was working out because it made me feel better about myself. But I knew I wanted to make some improvements (writers are almost, by their nature, sedentary creatures) and that whatever weight I dropped, I'd be satisfied.

I weighed myself after I got in from the gym this afternoon. In two months, I've dropped fifteen pounds. I'm at the weight I was at when I was a sophomore in high school. This is nothing short of awesome.

And adding to my vacation productivity (the office is closed until January 2nd -- I have paid holiday time), I got my car serviced yesterday and today I took it over to the body shop to get an estimate on the fender bender damage I incurred when some guy with a battering ram on the front of his Jeep ran into me in September. His insurance is going to pay for it -- good thing, because I don't have an extra $600 lying around -- and I'll be able to get it fixed after the first of the year. Tomorrow? Passport. [livejournal.com profile] gleam bought me a map of London for Christmas and I've been poring over the street grid, trying to figure out where Todd and I should go first. We're planning to take a cruise around the British Isles in July of the upcoming year: 11 ports of call in France, Britain and Ireland. I want to know where I'm going. And what pubs we should hit first.

Fantastic day. I'm so motivated I could scream.

You are!! But the benefit of RL over TV shippage in your case is that you don't have to wait 7 years to kiss the guy lol
