I'd completely forgotten about Fukushima (isn't that horrible that I forgot?). Do be careful and cautious as you make your choice and if you go consider investing in those radiation discs so you know if you are being over exposed and need to go to a doctor's office. That being said, don't let fear keep you from going someplace eventually. Living intentionally is quite fun and I, like you, know a number of people who have really enjoyed teaching English in various Asian countries.
