Good question and, to be honest, one that's kept me from committing wholeheartedly to going over to Japan. I'm not sure about the residual effects of radiation in Hiroshima, but I've heard not-so-good things out of Japan about the Fukushima Daiichi disaster (which officials recently admitted was a full-scale meltdown) and the potential hazards surrounding it. A couple of months ago, a farmer living near the site found a baby bunny that had been born without ears.

It's unsettling stuff. Definitely something that I will take into consideration when making a decision to go over there.
