I'm not totally jazzed about seeing Wanted, but I'm about ninety percent sure that Danny Elfman takes lead vocals on a track on the soundtrack, which makes me all kinds of happy because, HELLO, IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE YOU ROCKED MY WORLD, MR. ELFMAN.
This man has provided the score to my life. From my early days (here) to the long, halcyon summers spent riding my bike around the neighborhood (here); reading about love in far away places (here); high school (here); long days and nights in college, studying for finals (here); and up to the present, when the future is a little more obtainable and a lot more robust (here).
Elfman's themes are powerful, constant, cultural guideposts for a generation of hopeful dreamers and doers.
...Plus, he wrote Wild Sex In The Working Class. Which is totally about getting it on -- hot, gritty, and blue collar -- as soon as you get home from work.
Music is a wonderful, wonderful unifying force.
