My guilt. Your FL post.

I love Best Buy's Geek Squad. Mom and I took my iPod in last night to confirm the damage and I just love how everyone at that little orange carrel looks like they belong there: all dressed in black and white (some with ties and tie pins), with similar scrunched up or rounded faces, as eager to help you with your laptop or iPod as, say, a Cylon is eager to bypass intergalactic treaties and blow up the whole damn space station. Anyway. I digress. 'Word in the Geek Squad geek pod is that my iPod has had it. They're going to ship it to Dallas and I'll be getting a replacement (hopefully the 80G upgrade) in a week, two weeks. Todd was sweet enough to loan me his iPod so I don't have to work out without music. Todd is amazing like that.

I'm actually not that bummed about it. I mean, yeah, it sucks to be without it for a week or so, but at least it wasn't my laptop that crashed, or my external hard drive, or my phone. I've been listening to a lot of CDs in the car and, yesterday, I think I turned my radio on for the first time since I got my car. At the same time, I feel like a disgusting American capitalist consumer for even being sort of put out about not having my iPod. One of my co-workers gives money to a family in Rawanda and their big "Christmas present" this year was a goat. I mean, geez. I'm spoiled. I'm terrible. I should give to Amnesty International. Or the...International Goats and iPods Foundation.

<3 You're right, it's all going to be just fine. The Geek Squad is so darned cute. XD They just get so excited about electronics and things.

And don't feel bad, you aren't a disgusting American capitalist for missing Little Lisa. It's a perfectly natural feeling - and you are not spoiled. Spoiled people, in my humble, Lil-like opinion, are the ones that don't appreciate what they have and just want moremoremoremore for the sake of having more. You, my dear, are as far from spoiled as they get because you always appreciate everything you have - from the people in your life to the material objects - so don't feel bad at all. <3 You're fantastic.

International Goats and iPods Foundation..can we call it IGIP?

I once read a quote from a French philosopher that I've never been able to find again, which says that humans are amazingly good at focusing only on what they don't have no matter how much they have. So everybody does it. It's not a bad idea now and then to be reminded that lots of people are goatless, but you can't spend all day marvelling at your own fortune - it takes up too much processing power. It's Rwanda, BTW;).

Rwanda. Thank you. I should have spent more time studying geography and less time reading Wired.

Believe me, I sympathise on the geography thing. I might be able to spell it, but I couldn't find Rwanda on a map with a gun to my head.
