Good Christ.
Nick Cave's "The Secret Life of the Love Song/The Flesh Made Word" is incredible. Two "lectures" about religion, art, heresy, and the union of all three -- read by the man himself, in his rumbling, achy brogue.
One could drown in a voice like that.
And now you can drown, too: here

Have you heard The Ballad of Robert Moore and Betty Coltrane? Or his version of Black Betty?

Alright, I clearly can't decide.
Off the album Lime Tree Arbour's on, which I have and like - Nick Cave yarns a good ballad - my favourite is probably Into my Arms.

Besides, if anyone's lyrics are to be chosen, Nick Cave isn't too shabby a choice. Not by a long shot.

Into My Arms is great. Actually, The Boatman's Call might be my favourite Nick Cave 'n' Seeds album. I especially like (Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For?

And as for Johnny Rotten, he's the lead singer of the Sex Pistols. Excellent chap.
(Me still, I'm just logged into my character journal.)

And very snazzy character journal name. I do so approve!

Thank you. I've played that journal for a very long time, 80% of the time with Kate.

He's just what a man ought to be. That's him in my icon.

Everyone talks about The Mercy Seat but I've never heard it. I would have bought the album with it on by now, but the problem is that I've pretty much switched to vinyl and the store I go to is pretty dry on Cave at the moment. The one they do have is pretty expensive.

I'm choking with delight.

What made you switch to vinyl?

I never thought about vinyl like that. My sister has a turntable, but I never thought about it being that kind of experience. How expensive has the change been, from CDs to vinyl?

As for the turntables themselves, I wouldn't recommend buying a pristine new one. I'd say a new one would be about 250 US dollars. That's 500 over here. I got mine, which is from the 60's and works fantastic, for 150 NZ, which'd be about 75 US, I think. Try vintage stores if you ever get one. If they don't have one they can probably get one, they're used to getting hold of those things. Ask to try it out in the store, though, because of the age of the thing.
