Ugh. It's a wintery nightmare out there today. I'm so, so grateful that I don't have to drive twenty minutes to get to class anymore, especially when the road is chock full of eight inches of snow. Worst of all, it's blowing and drifting, which means that every time I walk out of a building I get smacked in the face by a wall of snow. I was committed to doing a load of laundry today, but I don't think I even want to leave the bedroom at this point, for fear of being snowed under.

My classes are pretty awesome so far. I've got The History of the English Language (with this guy), which is going to be interesting, especially when we start talking about Old and Middle English. We worked on a page of rebuses today, which I find equally fun and frustrating to figure out. (For instance: JOBINJOB..."In Between Jobs".) I worked on them with a kid with whom I've had a couple of other classes. Nice kid. Straight shooter. We both had to buy books today, though, and the text for History is reputedly expensive if you don't buy it used. So I got to the bookstore, like, ten seconds behind this kid and he's already grabbed the last copy. He was like, "You're going to hate me, but..." And I was like, WELL, FARTS. Because the least the kid could have done was superficially offer to give me the last copy, even if he wasn't really serious and even if I would have totally told him to hang on to it, because that's the nice, genteel thing to do. But he didn't even offer to do that. I found one of the bookstore employees and asked if they had any copies in the back, but they didn't. They told me that they could order me another copy, but I wasn't about to pay the price of a new copy plus shipping. So I came home and found a used copy on Half.com for, like, thirty bucks cheaper than the bookstore. Which is great, because I think they scalp you at university bookstores anyway, but not so great because I have to wait 2 - 9 days for the thing to come in. I'll have to bum a copy off somebody else for the next week or so.

I've only been to one other class so far (the term started on Wednesday, and I've got a Monday night lecture), which was Music and Psychology. That class is going to be epic. We talk about cognitive functions of music, as well as the emotional and psychological aspects related to the listening experience. I haven't had to pass Intro Psych for a few years, but I like that kind of thing and I'm excited about learning more. Plus, the professor is young and seems pretty laid back. I'm looking forward to some intelligent discussion.

Speaking of -- House is back on Monday! Hooray! I saw the promo for the new episode and I am practically spinning in gleeful circles over all the House/Wilson stuff.

Also! My brother is going to Spain next week and my parents will be stopping by the new apartment after dropping him off at O'Hare. Yay for family!
