One thing I do not like about fall: the bugs. As it gets cooler and cooler out, they all seem to tickle their way into the apartment. I must've shooed three or four spiders out the back door over the last couple days. And I had the window in the living room open earlier, but I closed it when I saw that there was a spider hanging around on the inside of the screen. Now it's stuffy and warm in here, but I refuse to open the window and let the spider out of solitary confinement. At least until I can get Todd to do the old "cup-and-index-card" and take it outside.

I refuse to squish those things. It's not so much that I believe in the sanctity of life (I was raised to think that every spider had a little spider family waiting for it back home), so much as it is that I don't want to deal with the mess that squishing leaves behind. So with every spider I encounter, it's catch and release -- with the unspoken understanding that I don't want to ever see it crawling across my living room floor again.

'Got an e-mail from the university today. I've been invited to join Sigma Tau Delta Neat! I think I can swing the one-time $37 induction fee. (PLUS, THERE'S A PIN. I LOVE PINS.)
