Spring Break : Day 5
Mar. 5th, 2009 05:42 amDATELINE--MERRILLVILLE. So Todd and I have gotten into this terrible sleep pattern lately where we go to bed at four o'clock in the morning and wake up at noon or later. Clearly, this isn't a productive rhythm. We both have obligations and, when we start working, staying up until all hours of the night watching Jon & Kate Plus 8 isn't going to fly. So we've decided to pull an all-nighter in order to reset our internal clocks. I haven't done a 24-hour marathon since college and man, I forgot just how difficult it is to be enthused about things at five o'clock in the morning. We just got back from grocery shopping (the only time I can stand being at WalMart is when the place is a ghost town) and now we're settling in with another movie. Our plan is to stay awake until at least eight o'clock tonight, with room for a couple of quick catnaps during the day. I've got some coursework to finish today but I'm not sure how conscious I'm going to be, or whether or not anything that I write will make a sense of lick. Still, these things must be done.
We're going back to town this weekend. My dad's birthday is this upcoming Monday and Todd wants to see some friends. I'm hoping that I'll be appropriately moved to start the outline for my short story (I had a few more fantastic ideas in the shower this morning; of course, every idea is fantastic when you're bathing), which I've been sorely neglecting. The thing about stories is that they have to have plots (or so I've read) and the barebones approach I usually take when it comes to, uh, planning things out ahead of time probably won't fly if I want to construct a decent narrative. At this point, my only fear (and somewhat of a pipe dream) is that I'll have too much to pack into an eight-to-ten page story. I'm willing to negotiate length with my professor, though. I mean, art won't be confined or coddled, right? PLUS, YOU GUYS: JOHNNY LAZARUS.
GAH. We keep watching movies where people are either lying down, taking naps, or getting the full-out sleepsperience. Damn lucky actors. They get to do everything.
