You're gonna set your hope on fire

Todd's away for a couple of days, taking care of some things back home. It's funny. This is the first time since we've been living together that we'll go more than a day without seeing one another and, even though he's been gone less than ten hours, I still miss him. The apartment isn't the same without him puttering around. I've got plenty to do in his stead, though. I would have joined him back home if schedules weren't so tight and if I could have gotten out of my classes. We've come to rely on one another so much. I mean, we're all that each other has up here. We haven't made any lasting connections in our classes and neither of us are working at the moment, so the only socialization we have, face to face, is with one another. I know that old rag about absence and hearts, but it's still hard when he's gone.

In the interim, I've got classes, RP, movies, 30 Rock and Vienna Teng to sustain me. I got my hands on Vienna's new album tonight and I'm excited to give it a good listen. I adore her. Her vocal range is just about spot-on with mine, so I don't have any trouble belting out her lyrics while I'm driving. "Unwritten Letter #1" is the first song of hers that I ever heard (it was on a House/Wilson fanmix I came across a little over two years ago) and I've been hooked on her voice ever since. She's perfect when it comes to creating the right "fandom anthem."

Speaking of fandom, I just finished watching Serenity. I'd only seen Firefly to this point and I have to say, the movie rekindled my love for the show. I absolutely love Mal, and Wash, and I think I'm a little more like Kaylee than I'd like to admit. ("Shiny!")

We're workshopping one of my poems in class on Wednesday. I really hope I don't cock it up.
