Royal in the afternoon.
Jun. 29th, 2007 12:30 pm- Somehow, I've got real Cuddian curls today. Those of you who know me (or who've been following me from the office to the parking lot every night) know that my hair is straight. Really straight. I mean, we're talking "measurable with a T-square, you're-not-gay-you're-just-adventurous" levels of straightness. And it's very fine. I'm not going to lie to you: I have gorgeous hair. But the thing is, I've never been able to do anything with it because it's very fine and very straight. Whatever decorative shape I pull it into in the morning always ends up going flat by the end of the day, no matter how much product I push into my scalp. So I've been using a round brush when I dry it in the morning to flip up the ends, then contour the other layers around my face. I've taken to calling it the "Constitutional Lawyer look."
( Because it reminds me of this )
But today, through some miracle of styling, I got my hair to look like this:
( Which I feel is far preferable )
- 'Said my official "goodbye" to Kiki last night. It was harder than I thought it would be. I'm really going to miss her.
- On the upswing, I've got less than two weeks before my vacation in Memphis. I got paid today -- the last check before I leave -- and I'm determined to hoard as much of it as possible from now 'til then so I can get the most marrow out of my money. I really want a t-shirt from the Gibson Guitar Museum and of course I want Gomez merch from the concert. I'd also like to buy a very expensive drink at B.B. King's Blues bar so I can take it to the piano and lean -- with wide, eager Yussel Rabinovitch-like eyes -- against it until they agree to play something from the Taj Mahal songbook. AND ROOM SERVICE. "Hello, this is Kate in 423. I'd like a Reuben without the sauerkraut, three kosher dill pickles, a tray of Turkish Delight, and a small European man in period dress."
Awesome.
- Oooh. I just got off the phone with the Philharmonic. Free tickets. WIN.
- Also. Just an aside? I'd take it as a personal favour -- one that I'll be bound to repay with small gifts or with comments about your "small gifts" -- if you people would stop being idiots. Because the drama? Is completely unnecessary.
