I think your worst problem with it will be avoiding cliche, in that there has been a hell of a lot of SF written about dreams (now I see why you described it as a Phil K Dick cross!) On the other hand, the reason it's been written about a lot is that it's a fascinating subject, and there's always room for one more, especially a new take on it.
