"I made you a member of my wolf pack."

→ NBC is going to start airing episodes of Merlin starting mid-June. I've heard some scuttlebutt about the show on the BBC boards (where I troll, ineffectually, hoping to gain some kind of broad spectrum Anglo influence) and I'm kind of looking forward to it. It's definitely better than what I have been watching lately. My god, you guys, I'm such a sucker for reality television these days. I'm watching Expedition Africa, Intervention, Obsessed, The Next Food Network Star, Chopped, and Dinner: Impossible. I will pretty much watch whatever is on the Food Network. I have dreams -- actual dreams -- about being one of the panel judges on Iron Chef America. Yes, mom, I do have enough food in the apartment.

→ Todd and I saw The Hangover today. Hilarious. This week we're also planning on seeing Angels & Demons and The Lost World. So far this year, we've saved over $100 on movie tickets alone. Todd might come home crying because of the chemical burns he gets from the popcorn popper, but it all evens out. FREE MOVIES: WOO!

→ Money woes. 'Got some help from my parents, but I might end up having to get a second job to get through the summer. I have a little over $2100 saved toward my Simple IRA, but borrowing against it is pretty much a tax trap. I'll only go there as a last resort. I don't exactly miss my salaried job, but I do miss the money it brought in. It was nice to know there was a constant, consistent source of money for me to rely on. And yeah, I'm realistic: I know that things aren't always going to be difficult, that Hallmark isn't the end of the line for me, and that someday I'm going to be able to buy Pop Tarts without considering them a "luxury item." If nothing else, being strapped for cash has taught me to be more careful with my money. You know, foregoing books in favour of gas for my car. That kind of thing.

→ So [livejournal.com profile] cryptictac has been watching LOST lately and it makes me want to go back and give the series another try. I stopped watching after they revealed what was in the hatch. But I'm dubious, because I keep hearing that the current season is so convoluted that you practically have to keep a notebook to track what's going on.

I will not write fanfic about these guys. I will not write fanfic about these guys. I will not write fanfic about these guys.

I am definitely trying to encourage every single person I know to watch Lost. Because it is awesome. The end.

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
I watched the first season but drifted away from it when it got "weird." I started watching "House" instead. Is it really worth my time? I mean, you're biased of course, but do they ever make up for What Was In The Hatch?

[identity profile] austen.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Like you said, it really does get pretty convoluted, so even though you find out what's in the hatch, there's still plenty of unsolved mystery ahead - and lots of great plot twists and turns and surprises.

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
I remember really liking the first season. I gave my DVDs to my brother, so maybe I'll reborrow them when I go home the next time. There aren't going to be any new episodes until, when, like, next January?

[identity profile] austen.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's a ridiculously long time until the new season comes out, so if you want to catch up now, it'd be a great time to do so.

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
'Might as well. Summer hiatus is a long time to wait for my other shows to come back.

[identity profile] austen.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. I've been marathoning Six Feet Under to distract myself (and am watching the episode starring Anne Dudek right now!).

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's another one I need to do a rewatch for. Have you ever watched Psych? I think you'd really like it. I ask because Anne Dudek was in the pilot episode.

[identity profile] austen.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen episodes? Not the entire show, though, but I got the vague premise of things.

She's in Mad Men, too - or, at least, the episodes I saw.

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
I tried watching Mad Men but found it uncomfortably like real life. Not that the guys at the agency used to chase skirts or anything; it was more the chauvinism and fraternal stroking that weirded me out. I hear good things about it, though.

I want to watch CalifornicationIn Treatment but, alas, I don't have the channels.

[identity profile] austen.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
I downloaded the first couple seasons of Californication online. It's actually how I catch up on most of my shows or start new ones. Cheaper in the long run than buying DVDs, at least!

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
I hear that.

[identity profile] another-myself.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
If you're wanting a Californication/Duchov fix, I'll hook you up. :)

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love that! I have the first season on DVD. Did you see him on Conan tonight?

[identity profile] another-myself.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't! I didn't know he was on! Was he yummy?

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
I sort of stumbled upon him, myself. Oh, he was witty and charming as always. Conan asked him about The X-Files and David admitted that his fans know more about Mulder's background than he does.

[identity profile] another-myself.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I think your knowledge of Mulder far surpasses everyone else's. There's never been a Mulder to a Scully like you are to mine. And something about Duchovny's voice and that zillion-watt smile just smacks me in the chest and makes my heart all fluttery.

I apologize for none of this.

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
I've been wanting to do a S1-9 rewatch, but I keep getting sidetracked by other shows. I should really commit.

[identity profile] another-myself.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Will my promising to partake with you assist in said commitment?

[identity profile] katernater.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't even cracked the plastic wrap on season 9. I'm such a terrible fangirl. XD

[identity profile] another-myself.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Tcht, not at all. Season 9 is one major headache, with one fantastic Truthmaking finale.

Ha? Ha?

[identity profile] another-myself.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
So season 9 isn't all bad. I think that Trust No. 1 was one of my favourites out of it. Twisted my heart all up on itself.
