Vertigo is my favourite movie of all time evar, but I'm keeping my matches in my pocket. Why should we all like the same ones? And I agree that many "classic" films are a pile of compost. (Not Vertigo, though:)). In particular I really struggle with 1970s movies. The Conversation, for example, is supposed to be a masterpiece but I can never get through more than the first ten minutes.
