[livejournal.com profile] antiquitea posted her annual summertime mix last week (check it out! it's awesome!) which reminded me that I was due to get mine out there. This is, by far, one of the most upbeat mixes I've made in a while. All of the songs either remind me of summer itself, or are just things I've been jamming out to lately. It's a real eclectic bunch of stuff. 'Like Brazilian Tropicália? It's in here. 'Got a hankering for viking folk metal? You won't be disappointed. 'Dig songs about socially awkward computer programmers with unrequited feelings for the office receptionist? Dude, I've totally got you covered. Plus, stuff from Eagles of Death Metal, Take That, and Arcade Fire (featuring David Bowie!).

As always, comments and feedback are lovely. Here's to a great summer!

Okay. So this is me, paring down a 45+ track playlist into a nice, neat profiterole of character shipitude. I've been working on refining this mix for about two weeks (roughly about as long as [livejournal.com profile] awesomesquared had been working on her mix which, by the way, you should check out, because it is amazing) and I'm very happy with the results. This is an EP for two original characters, Hugh Cadigan and Amelia Drake, who are in a roleplaying game I'm currently involved with. They have quite an extensive (somewhat tumultuous) history with one another. Hugh is a smooth-talking bureaucrat on assignment in Amelia's territory, trying to ascertain whether or not she knows what the hell she's doing. Amelia is trying to assert her authority and prove to Hugh and his employers that she doesn't need babysitting. Did I mention that they're both werewolves? It's a high-stakes game of politics, intrigue, and wet fur. Will they ever learn to get along? Will love eventually win out over distrust and uncertainty? Will Hugh ever get enough of the yummy chiffon cupcakes Amelia makes?

Only time will tell.

2011 has been pretty eventful so far. I got a new job, moved to a new city, and tried almond butter for the first time (it's delicious, by the way). In celebration of spring and all the new changes in my life, I decided to put together an EP of songs that have been making the journey with me. This is sort of a companion mix to last year's here's to you, which is still available to download by individual track links.

Beneath the cut: U2, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Josh Kelley, Elbow and others (plus that track from the Doctor Who Series 6 trailer!).

2010 has been a year of mixed blessings, but an absolutely fantastic year for music. I threw this EP together to showcase some of the songs I've been listening to during the last leg of the decade. Cheers to 2010, and here's to all of the new adventures and challenges that will come in 2011.

Happy New Year!

I just finished watching Shakespeare Retold : 'Much Ado About Nothing'.

I think I love that play over all Shakespeare's others.

And Beatrice/Benedick are my Elizabethan drama OTP. So, naturally,

+ 6 tracks / cover art / gratuitous Shakespeare quotage beyond the cut
+ Comments/feedback would be lovely! Thanks!

Following last year's tremendously successful 'autumn's here' ep (I say "successful," in that more than two of you downloaded it), I decided to do a 2010 version. 6 tracks + cover art beneath the jump.

I saw Inception at midnight on Thursday, and liked it so much that I went back for a second viewing less than twenty-four hours later. I have already given my two cents about the movie itself, but this is a little EP for the pairing that won't get out of my head. Only the vaguest of spoilers for the movie.

Fireworks are a lovely epilogue to a great weekend! I had so much fun with [livejournal.com profile] another_myself in Indianapolis, at the concert, at the mall, and everywhere in between. I was sad to see her go this afternoon, but at least we've got some terrific photos to remember our time together.

Someone's gonna' bulldoze your Putt-Putt. )

Aaaand, because I've had the iPod going all weekend, a summertime EP with the best bits of what I've been listening to in May and June:

SO. I was home this weekend (to celebrate Father's Day and to glut myself on ribs at our city's annual BBQ festival), and I came across an entire document case packed with old LotR Underworld/Dark Underworld RP logs. Like, a lot -- three years' worth, to be exact. That's a lot of writing. A lot of characters. (And a lot of really weird "family dynamics.") Anyway, as I was going through all of that stuff, it occurred to me that those games -- and the characters I played in them -- really meant a lot to me. It was the first time that I really had a chance to flesh out characters of my own, and I played with some incredibly talented people. And it was never, ever boring. Some of the characters are still with me. Some will probably never leave.

So, as a tribute to those certain headvoices (the ones who tell me that it's damned hard to keep all of your white clothes white when you're constantly kicking vampire ass; the ones who brood so much they could probably make it a permanent hobby), I've put together this little EP. Each song is a little glimpse into the personality of the character attached to it.

And yes, Nicky -- it was extremely difficult for me not to use "Dancing Queen" for Crispin. XD

All songs uploaded individually (click the musical note beside the character name), and as a zipped folder. Some songs are MP4, for those of you who have to manage that kind of thing.

So, I am pretty much in love with the new Doctor. This really surprised me as, coming off of a five-year run with David Tennant, I figured that whatever Matt Smith and Team Moffat could produce still wouldn't come close to the affection I had for Ten. While it's true that you never forget your first Doctor, I was happy to discover that, like there's room in the Doctor for two hearts, there is also room in my heart for two Doctors. I also think that Karen Gillian does a terrific job as Amy Pond, the Doctor's new companion and all-around girl Friday. This set of mixes actually started off as a general Doctor Who mix but, as I was culling my iTunes library, I found more and more songs that pertained to Amy and her relationship with the Doctor -- both in her younger days and now.

As such, this is a 10-track mix divided into two EPs. There are five tracks per EP. The first EP concerns Amy and her life following her first visit from the Doctor. As she grows up, she still looks to the sky for any sign of the big blue box that will one day come to take her away. The second EP covers Amy after the Doctor's return, and their subsequent adventuring together. Both mixes are meant to be enjoyed together, but you may listen to one or the other independently.

Both EPs have been uploaded to Mediafire as zipped files.
Please comment if you are taking either EP.

I mean, it's definitely more upbeat than the House/Stacy wangst I posted last night.

This one is for [livejournal.com profile] austen and her absolutely extraordinary KB.

A while ago, [livejournal.com profile] highlander_ii requested a canonical House/Stacy mix but, until I got clobbered with a cold at the end of this week, I'd been too busy to put it together. This one took a little while because, for once, I wanted to frame it around a certain timeline. This mix -- an EP, really, because I hardly ever do full-length mixes -- is essentially what I consider to be House's inner monologue between "Love Hurts" and "Need To Know".

Zipped mix, cover art, supplemental art behind the cut.

Please comment if you're taking. Feedback is like vindaloo curry.

Fall begins at sundown tomorrow (in this hemisphere, anyway) and to celebrate my favourite time of year, I've put together a 6-track EP of songs that I think fit the season. Also, a little cameo by Cate Blanchett in the liner art, because she's been on my mind a lot lately (thank you, [livejournal.com profile] nerdish). Please enjoy!
